August on the Camino Francés brings warm to hot conditions overall, with daytime temperatures ranging from the mid-teens to nearly 38 degrees Celsius. However, this varies considerably by region. The route starts cool in the Pyrenees around Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, then climbs through Navarre where temperatures average 27 degrees. The dramatic heat peaks in La Rioja, where daytime averages reach 37 degrees with virtually no rainfall, making it the driest and hottest section. Conditions moderate again through Castille and León before cooling further as you enter Galicia, where temperatures average just over 21 degrees.
